Yes, we will discuss all of these completely unrelated things in today’s blog, and in that order. So, first up…I have tattoos. I have a fair amount of them and I want more. And if you have tattoos, you know that when you want new ink, it’s like an itch that won’t go away until you get new ink. Well, I’ve got the itch…
Only problem is, I don’t have a local tattoo artist. I know, right? I’ve lived in Cincinnati for almost three years and haven’t had any tattoos done here. That doesn’t mean I haven’t gotten tattooed in that time, I have. I had a large cover up piece (6 brutal hours!) done on my right arm while I was visiting my parents in Florida. And I had another one done by my absolute favorite tattoo artist, T-Bone at Lark St. Tattoo, in Albany, New York while I was visiting friends there. But since I can’t afford to fly to Albany every time I want a new tattoo, it means I need to find someone great here in Cincy!
Now, I know there are great tattoo artists here, and that’s where I need your help. Shoot me an email and let me know who you go to and why they are so great. I’d like someone that’s dynamite with colors, is a great artist, and can see the vision for making several pieces into one cohesive body of work. Seriously, let me know…I’m dying to get new ink.
Next up…plumbing. I am not a plumber. I’ve done a few things here and there, but overall, I don’t really enjoy working with water or the pipes that contain it. Having said that, I’m going to tackle a home improvement project…see below.
Yes, I am going to re-plumb my kitchen sink. Take a look at the photo and let’s go through it starting at the far left. I can unscrew the metal piece to reveal a blue tube. This blue tube goes down under the sink and splits, like an upside down Y, into two blue tubes. These two blue tubes then go nowhere. They do nothing and aren’t attached to anything. I have yet to figure out what this thing does, or was meant to do that it is no longer doing. It baffles me. Then to the right of that is the faucet. Then there’s the water handle. Then the spray and then a place for hand soap. So, let’s count…one, two, three, four, five…openings in the sink.
So, in my research, which encompassed a total time of 6 days spent in various home improvement stores staring blindly at shiny faucets, touching sprayers, turning handles, reading boxes, comparing brands, checking prices and reading how-to’s…I’ve discovered they don’t make faucet ensembles for sinks with five openings. They have them for one, two, three and four openings, but not five. Just my luck.
What they do have are plates that can cover up unused openings, but that is going to require me to move some things around…namely the faucet…but quite possibly the handle and the sprayer, too. Basically, I’m gonna have to MacGyver it…or MacGruber it, as the case may be. I’ll keep you posted. I haven’t quite decided what faucet I’m going to get, but once it’s done, I’ll post the pictures here on my blog so you can see for yourself just how great I am when it comes to plumbing.
Now, on to dogs. I love them. I’m a big animal person. I probably should have been a veterinarian. Seriously…my friends call me “the Mammal Whisperer”…which makes me laugh. My boss knows how much I love animals, as he helped me rescue two giant German Shepherds that were running loose down Montgomery Road and heading straight for the Norwood Lateral. I still have their nose prints on the windows in my office.
So, you can imagine how heartbroken I was to hear about the 80+ dogs that were recently rescued from two homes in Adams County. The dogs were living in atrocious conditions…I don’t even care to tell you the horrible details. It was bad. There are still 40+ dogs that need to find homes before Wednesday. Like, Wednesday…TODAY…Wednesday. The temporary barn that they have been using is no longer going to be available after today the dogs will need to be moved somewhere else…or euthanized. How sad. Please, please, please…check the link below and see if you or someone you know can help. They don’t deserve to die.

Ok…and last up…from the WTF files....I was perusing the photos from the Opening Day Parade, and I want to know when did they hold the contest for this? I heard nothing about it. I could have been a Census Princess.
