6/25: Jimmie Walker from "Good Times" turns 63 today; Tim Finn from Crowded House is 58; Ricky Gervais is 49; George Michael is 47. It was a year ago today that Michael Jackson was found dead from an accidental overdose of the drug Propofol. Sad. In his honor, have a Jackson 5...it's Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker whiskey, tequila and Jagermeister. I would recommend having only one of these...

6/24: Birthdays today include Al Molinaro (from "Happy Days"), 91; Mick Fleetwood, 63; and Curt Smith from Tears for Fears, 43. Today is Celebrate The Senses day, so we suggest you celebrate your sense of taste, with a tasty beverage! How about a Purple Yummy? It's vodka, rum, peach schnapps, blue curacoa, grandine and lemon/lime soda.

6/23: Randy Jackson is 54 today; KT Tunstall turns 35 and Duffy is 26. Today, we all lived through an earthquake. It's true. I felt it. The quake's center was in Canada and registered a 5.5, but here is was between a 2 or 3 on the Richter Scale. Let's celebrate by having a Tremor...melon liquer, vodka, spiced rum and orange juice.

6/22: Actress Meryl Streep is 61 today; Cyndi Lauper is 57 and Carson Daly is 37. Today is National Chocolate Eclair day...and they are so, so, so delicious. Pair one with a lovely Pinot Noir or Merlot.

6/21: Meredith Baxter is 63 today; Actress/singer Juliette Lewis is 37; Prince William is 27. Today is the First Day of Summer! Hooray! Two drinks come to mind, lemonade and iced tea...so today, let's celebrate with a Lemony Summer drink...it's amaretto, whiskey, lemonade and a splash of orange juice. Next year, we'll focus on the iced tea.

6/18: Carol Kane (Simka, wife of Latka on the TV show "Taxi") is 57 today; Rober Ebert and Paul McCartney both turn 67 today. Today is National Splurge Day. So, indulge with the drink called a Splurge. It's vodka, lime soda, fresh lemon juice and sugar.

6/17: Venus Williams is 29 today and Barry Manilow is 63, but still looks 28 somehow. On this day in 1885, the United States received a very special gift from France in the form of The Statue of Liberty. So, try this crazy drink...a Lady Liberty in a Thong! It's coffee liquer, dark rum and lemon juice.

6/16: Boxer Roberto Duran is 59; Laurie Metcalf is 55; Phil Mickelson is 40. Today is Fresh Veggies Day!! And while we know you can eat some fresh veggies...you can also drink them, folks. Try a V8 & vodka.

6/15: Neil Patrick Harris is 37 today; Jim Belushi turns 57. On this day in 2007, Bob Barker ended a 35 year run as host of "The Price Is Right". Today is Smile Power Day...a day dedicated to the power of a smile. And the best way to smile would be as you are ordering one! A smile cocktail is gin, grenadine and lemon juice.

6/14: Donald Trump is 64; Boy George turns 49 and Steffi Graf is 41 today. Today is Flag Day...so let your freak flag fly! There is a layered drink called an American Flag...it's grenadine (red), then creme de cocoa (clear/white) and then blue curacao (blue.) In that order, folks. 

6/11: Actor Hugh Laurie is 51 today; Joe Montana is 54; Gene Wilder is 77. The movie "Young Frankenstein" featuring Gene Wilder ranks 13th on the American Film Institute 100 Funniest Movies, so let's celebrate it with a Frankenstein drink...blueberry and melon liquer mixed with pineapple juice.

6/09: Elizabeth Hurley turns 45 today; Gina Gershon is 48; Kim Deal from The Pixies is 49. On this day in 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous was founded in Akron, OH. Let's definitely celebrate that...have a drink of your choice!

6/08: The extremely good looking Johnny Depp is 47 today; Michael J. Fox is 49; Natalie Portman is 29. On this day in 1973, Secretariat won the Triple Crown with a victory at Belmont Stakes. So, let's celebrate by having one of the TWO official drinks of the Belmont Stakes. You pick...either a Belmont Breeze (bourbon, sherry, simple syrup, lime juice, orange juice, cranberry juice and a splash of club soda) or the White Carnation (vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, club soda and a splash of cream.)

6/07: Bill Hader from SNL is 32; Liam  Neeson is 58; Prince is 52 and Dave Navarro turns 43 today. Today is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day...so celebrate with a Chocolate Ice Cream drink! It's coffee liquer, creme de cocoa, vodka and milk...served super cold with crushed ice.

6/04: Actor/comedian Russell Brand is 35 today; Angelina Jolie is 35, too; Supermodel Bar Refaeli is 25. Today is National Doughnut Day. Or Donut, whichever you prefer. Let's have a Jelly Donut shot...it's Chambord & Bailey's served chilled.

6/03: Chuck Barris, former host of The Gong Show, turns 81; Anderson Cooper is 43. Today is Repeat Day...and there is no better action to repeat, than having a nice drink! We picked this drink for today because it has a great name...A Slow Comfortable Screw Up Against The Wall On The Dark Side of Mexico City. It's galliano, run, sloe gin, southern comfort, vodka, kahlua and orange juice. Wow.

6/02: Wayne Brady (who is hilarious) turns 38 today; Dana Carvey is 55. In 1851, Maine became the first state to enact a law prohibiting alcohol. Clearly, they smartened up. Let's celebrate by having a Maine Storm. Please keep in mind that Maine storms are usually harsh and severe...and the drink is no different! It's Creme de Menthe, vodka and milk over crushed ice. Sounds lovely.

6/01: Birthdays today include Morgan Freeman (63) and Alanis Morrisette (36). On this day in 1926, Norma Jean Mortensen was born...otherwise known as Marilyn Monroe. Today is Flip A Coin Day...so, heads...you drink; tails...you drink! Try a Gold Coin today, it's Goldschlager and Cointreau.

5/28: Yay for long weekends...enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend with a cold beer.

5/27: Siouxsie Sioux is 53 today; Neil Finn is 52; Adam Carolla is 46 and Todd Bridges is 45. Let's celebrate Willis' birthday by having a Sex on the Beach with Willis! This is gin, peach schnapps, vodka, cranberry juice and Tang. Yes, Tang. And it says to always think of Willis while drinking it...whatever that means.

5/26: Stevie Nicks turns 62; Genie Francis is 48; Lenny Kravitz is 46. In 1978, the first legal casino in the Eastern U.S. opened in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Celebrate with a Royal Flush...whiskey, chambord, peach schnapps and cranberry juice.

5/25: Mike Meyers is 47; Anne Heche turns 41. On this day in 1986, more than 7 million people participated in Hands Across America which formed a line across the country to raise money for the nation's hungry & homeless population. Instead of a drink today, take the money you'd spend and donate it to a local foodbank or shelter.

5/24: Tommy Chong (from Cheech & Chong) turns 72; Bob Dylan is 69; Priscilla Presley is 65. In 1935 the 1st Major League baseball game played at night took place at Croseley Field in Cincinnati (the Reds beat the Phillies 2-1) and today is National Escargot Day. You either love 'em or they make you sick just thinking about 'em...yes, we're talking about snails. They pair nicely with a Chardonnay or Reisling. Go get some!
